１．Prepare for Success

“Give me six hours to chop down a tree, and I will spend the first four hours sharpening the axe.”

「６時間で木を切り倒せと言われたら、私は最初の１時間を、斧を研ぐために使う」

ふむふむ

２．Hustle

“Things may come to those who wait, but only the things left by those who hustle.”

「待っているだけでも来るかもしれない、しかし一生懸命やった人の残りものでしかない」

そうか

３．Remember That Greatness is Possible

“That some achieve great success, is proof to all that others can achieve it as well.”

「誰かが大きな成功を収めたということは、他の人も同様にできるということの証明である」

なるほどね

４．Become Worthy of a Good Reputation

“Reputation is like fine china, once broken it's very hard to repair.”

「名声は、精密な陶器のようなもの。一旦壊れると、修復するのはとても大変」

これは、子どもたちにはそれほど深刻ではないかもね

５．Make the Years Count

“And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years.”

「結局、人生は何年生きたかではなく、その年月でどういう人生を送ったか」

これも、子どもたちは、永久に生きてると思ってることが普通かな。

６．See the Brighter Side of Things

“We can complain because rose bushes have thorns, or rejoice because thorn bushes have roses.”

「バラの茂みにとげがあると文句を言うこともできるし、とげの茂みにバラが咲いたと喜ぶこともできる」

言い訳、文句言い、粗さがし

７．Constantly Improve

“The way for a young man to rise is to improve himself in every way he can…”

「若者が成長する道は、自分自身を、あらゆる方面から改善させることだ」

「実行できるすべての方法で」、は himself にかかるのでしょうね。

でも、ぼくも考えられる、実行できるすべてのことをやらなきゃと思っています。
